Welcome to St Mary’s in the Market Square
We have closed for re-development but are looking to re-open in November of this year
Our capital development project will completely revamp the first floor museum to better cater for schools, visitors and the arts including artists, dance and drama groups. This will include improved lift access to allow all user groups to access the facilities and creating a multi-use cultural facility. Key elements will include a flexible and innovative use of space, photographic archive area, gallery, an adaptive multi-use performance area with seating for up to one hundred and forty people, access to the digital Local records, along with office and storage areas. This will allow us to offer enhanced education programmes, interactive activities to encourage people to engage with their local heritage, visual arts and other activities.
Our Mission Statement to reflect our new vision is:
To make St Mary’s the beating cultural heart of the community, building aspirations and skills through engagement with the City’s vibrant history and the arts
The revitalisation project will in addition to the capital development programme require a major investment in the gallery and exhibitions and a major development of our education and learning programmes, alongside audience development, volunteering and fundraising activity.
This will help make Lichfield and the surrounding district a better place to live and encourage visitors both to the town and Arts and Heritage venue and in doing so contribute to the local economy.
Our Fundraising appeal is well underway and a gift whether large or small would be very welcome
