Work So Far…
The project is well underway and we are planning to open mid December 2018
The church is being redeveloped to hold the town library on the ground floor and an events space, gallery and treasury on the first floor.
When we embarked on this project we knew we had a once in a lifetime opportunity to change our offering upstairs to an arts, heritage and learning venue that is affordable and accessible to all with a real opportunity to create a lasting legacy in the heart of the City.
Lichfield Museum holds full accreditation (Arts Council England) and was situated within the entire first floor of this building, prior to this redevelopment. The collection is currently in storage and Phase 11 will see the development of our Museum space
St Mary’s will hope to generate a buzz and vibrancy that will draw people to spend time and money in the historic heart of Lichfield during the day and evening as well as being a seedbed for smaller performances and a stepping stone for the development of skills and talents, allowing our younger generation to progress within the city venues to a wider and broader audience, and a deeper level of skill.
